Demand Response

Demand response programs are of two fundamental types: active programs in which someone or something triggers a customer’s load response to a price or event signal, and passive programs, such as time-of-use pricing.  Active programs of demand response either provide operational capacity to the ISO/RTO, (such emergency or reliability related load response, ramping services, or balancing energy), or provide planning capacity (such as utility operated load management programs), which actually avoid the need for future transmission, distribution and generation.

Good Company has deep knowledge about the structure of each demand response program within the ISO/RTO markets.  We have also just finished a survey of demand response or load management programs by the utilities in North America.  We have commercial and technical experience with programs and smart technologies used to day and emerging.  We are corporate members of the Peak Load Management Association, for which our staff attorney and economist, Steve Isser, serves as Vice Chairman.
